This scenario may be played from the blue side only.
My first serious attempt! Feedback most welcome!

Background: May 1995

Since the outbreak of hostilities several months ago, the
military rulers of the Soviet Confederated States (the latest and
most radical of the political entities to arise in a troubled
Eastern Europe) have undertaken a conservative yet methodical
strategy of infiltrating the bulk of their dwindling sub forces
into the GIUK gap, to block the inevitable intervention of the
world's only remaining blue water navy. The United States, locked
in political struggles and lulled into a false sense of security
has only recently awakened. Soviet interdiction of Norway has
been largely unopposed by the remnants of NATO and now, the UK,
reaping the 'Peace Dividend' with an under strength RAF and
virtually nonexistent Royal Navy must face the onslaught of the
Soviet push. It us equivocal whether Keflavik, NATO's sole
bulwark in the GIUK region or the UK itself will be the next
stepping stone in the Soviet domination of Europe.

Scenario:

To forestall Soviet domination of the Norwegian sea, a US CVBG
centered around the USS Eisenhower has embarked to maintain a
powerful ASW, ASuW and air superiority position in the northern
seas. Rough weather and unforeseen maintenance problems aboard the
Eisenhower have forced the battlegroup to divert to the UK base
at Portsmouth for repairs. This delay has undoubtedly allowed the
Soviets to blockade the GIUK with their submarine cordon. Just
as the CVBG has entered the Portsmouth channel, and flown off its
aircraft to RAF Wattisham, the British admiralty has received
word that a Soviet amphibious task force is steaming south, and
more distressingly, that the bomber base at Bodo is fully
operational. The Eisenhower group must, with all haste, reverse
course, making such underway repairs as possible and head back
into the treacherous waters of the GIUK gap with its decks empty
of all aircraft (save a small ASW helo contingent) until the
crews can be recalled from the pubs around Wattisham and return
their wayward birds to their empty nest.

Orders:

Turn your force around and head north to intercept the Soviet
amphibious group. Use your aircraft to provide cover for the UK
bases within striking range of Soviet bombers. Destroy the
amphibious craft before they can make landfall and disrupt the
Soviet's ability to further project their power into European
waters. Be alert for sub activity.

(NOTE To simulate a damaged carrier, keep the group speed 15 knots or
below)

Good luck!
